Getting Ready for an Assessment

The Dunaway Group helps a client prepare for a formal assessment by performing an abbreviated assessment of its development capability and the maturity of its processes. This includes work with a client's team of 2-3 persons, examination of documents that relate to the appropriate reference model, interviews with staff members to provide insight into current practices in use, and reporting the areas that need to be improved to achieve the organization's process improvement goals. This mini-assessment is usually conducted in a 5-day visit.

CMM®-Based Appraisal for Internal Process Improvement (CBA IPI)

CMM®-Based Assessment for Internal Process Improvement (CBA IPI) is used by organizations to determine current maturity of their software development processes, using the Capability Maturity Model for Software V1.1 as a reference model, by identifying strengths and weaknesses of the current processes relative to the model. The CBA IPI method is a diagnostic tool that supports, enables, and encourages an organization's commitment to process improvement. The results derived from the assessment provide the foundation for organizational software process improvement.

The Dunaway Group provides support to an assessed organization by planning the assessment scope, training the assessment team, and conducting all of the assessment activities.

Standard CMMI® Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPIsm)

The SCAMPI method is based on the CMM®-Based Appraisal for Internal Process Improvement (CBA IPI) V1.1 appraisal method and the Electronic Industries Alliance Interim Standard (EIA/IS) 731.2 Appraisal Method. The SCAMPI method is designed to provide benchmark quality ratings relative to Capability Maturity Model ® Integration (CMMI®) models. As a Class A appraisal method, relative to the Appraisal Requirements for CMMI (ARC) V1.1, the SCAMPI method is an appropriate tool for a wide range of appraisal usage modes, including both internal process improvement and external capability determinations.

An SEI-authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraiser provided by The Dunaway Group provides support to an organization by planning the appraisal scope, training the appraisal team, and conducting all of the appraisal activities.
